Simone Athayde works as a Research Integrity Lead at the World Resources Institute (WRI), where she oversees the quality and ethics of sustainability research. She also serves on the Science Steering Committee of the Science Panel for the Amazon (SPA) and is a Fulbright Amazonia alumna. She holds a bachelor’s degree in biology, master’s degrees in Botany and Ethnobotany, and a PhD in Interdisciplinary Ecology with concentration in Anthropology with a Certificate in Tropical Conservation and Development (TCD) from the University of Florida. Her work focuses on fostering dialogues between Indigenous and academic knowledge to promote equitable sociobioeconomies and good living in the Amazon. She has received several awards for her contributions to human rights, socio-environmental justice, and ethics.
