Graduated in biology and chemistry, has a master’s degree in biology (mycology) from the Universidad de los Andes and a master’s degree in government and public policy from the Universidad Externado de Colombia. She was a researcher and university professor. She is currently Executive Director of the SINCHI Institute. During her management, she has consolidated research themes related to inventories of flora, fauna and microbiota; utilization of the biodiversity supply in the Amazon region; innovation and transfer of technologies to local communities; generation of information for the country about the Amazon; knowledge of the frontiers and the necessary aspects to be taken into account when drawing up and implementing public policies that contribute to the sustainable development and conservation of the Amazon region. She was recently elected president of the Bioamazon Network – Biodiversity Research and Innovation Institutes, which brings together the main research institutes in the countries of the Amazon biome.
