Marcelo Cwerner lives in the Amazon Rainforest and was a co-founder of the Aquifer Institute, which promotes environmental awareness in Alter do Chão, Pará. With a degree in Economics, he spent 12 years in the financial market, eventually becoming a partner at KPMG Corporate Finance. In Alter do Chão, Marcelo founded three ecotourism companies and established a social enterprise focused on the collection and composting of organic waste. As Portfolio Manager at NESsT Brazil, he supported income generation through sustainable forest products for local communities. In 2023, Marcelo joined Conexsus as Head of Innovative Finance. He is currently Head of Capital Flows at the Amazon Investor Coalition and leads the Amana Project, focused on community development and school feeding programs with an emphasis on the bioeconomy. He also works on initiatives to unlock capital for sustainable forestry and regenerative agriculture.
